FP7-Achievements that make us proud

G. Kordas is the recipient of the FP7 project entitled “A Novel Nanocontainer drug carrier for targeted treatment of prostate cancer”, “Nanotherapy” approved by ERC and started on February 1, 2009. The project carried out in SOL-GEL laboratory of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at NCSR Demokritos. During this project targeted polymeric delivery systems synthesized inducing specific drug release by exploiting the local physicochemical cancer cell characteristics. The results included in 20 papers of Kordas group and supported further by ERC by funding a second program ERC named “proof of concept”. The study focused on new therapeutic approaches against breast, prostate and cervical cancer improving the quality of patient life and tumor efficacy treatment.
Based on this significant results Commissioner k. MOEDAS in his opening speech mentioned exclusively in only one work, home and said “especially for the sol gel work European taxpayers should be proud of the way they spent their money.” Perhaps he knew and Portuguese.
