Chryssostomos Chatgilialoglu (born 1952) holds a permanent position as Research Director at Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR, Bologna, Italy) since 1991. On leave from CNR in the period March 2014 - May 2016, he was appointed at NCSR “Demokritos” (Athens, Greece) as Director of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INN). He is a world-recognized expert in free radicals and in the last decade his research focused on life sciences and novel prognostic and diagnostic biomarker discovery. He has been mentor of several PhD (>15) and post-docs (>30), mainly from European programs, and invited speaker over 230 times at congresses and institutions. At present, he is a Principal Investigator in “ClickGene”, a Horizon 2020 network, and Chairman of the COST Action “Biomimetic Radical Chemistry”. He is also Honorary President and Co-founder of Lipinutragen Ltd, spin-off company in Italy. He has published over 250 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 34 book chapters, 6 patents and 7 books, among others Encyclopedia of Radical in Chemistry, Biology and Materials (Wiley 2012) and Membrane Lipidomics for Personalized Health (Wiley 2015).
