Description:
This research project aims to create individual layers of two dimensional polymeric or carbon nitride semiconductors with a band gap that can be tuned at will, coupled with plasmonic nanoparticles as plasmonics antennas. The core work package of the project is the synthesis of novel, 2-D, single layer semiconductors that can be decorated with nanoantennas. The nanoparticles will be decorated with different anchor groups, thus leading to either an ionic or a covalent link between the two components. The composites will be tested as fluorescent nanosensors, advanced photocatalysts for the degradation of pollutants and carbon dioxide reduction.
