About the Group


Welcome to the CMNM group’s website

Our research activities are focusing on the theoretical and computational study of novel nanostructured materials.

The goal is the optimization and prediction of their structural, electronic, magnetic and dynamic properties, in line with current experimental findings, for their exploitation in advanced energy (e.g. magneto-thermoelectric), technological (e.g. magnetic recording media, sensors) and biomedical (e.g. magnetic hyperthermia and contrast agents for cancer treatment, biosensors) applications.

Our research is mainly problem-driven rather than technique-driven and as such combines various approaches and numerical techniques, namely effective theories, ab-initio calculations, and Monte Carlo simulations, to guide the design of novel high-performance nanostructured materials.
