Athina Kastania is currently a PhD student at the Department of Chemistry of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and doing her thesis on Microfluidics at the National Center for Scientific Research (N.C.S.R.) “Demokritos”.
She received her Diploma in Chemical Engineering and her MSc in the interdepartmental postgraduate course “Microsystems and Nanodevices” from the National Technical University of Athens (N.T.U.A.). Her diploma thesis with title “Study in thermoluminescence of calcite shells” was carried out at the N.C.S.R. “Demokritos”and her MSc thesis with title “Study of the influence of UV radiation and antioxidants in the micromorphologic characteristics of keratinocytes” at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of N.T.U.A., in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Before beginning her PhD thesis she has worked at the Vocational Training Institute of Sivitanidios School teaching Analytical Chemistry and Elements of Chemistry-Cosmetology, as well as for a health and safety company in the department of safety engineers. She has also worked for “SciCo” (Science Communication), which is a company that promotes the correct popularization and communication of science. In addition, she has also attended the seminar ISO 14001:2004 - Auditor/Lead Auditor for Environmental Management Systems (IEMA certified, IQMS accredited).
