Dr Christos Tsamis received his Physics diploma from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1989 and his PhD degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1996. Since 1996 he joined the Institute of Microelectronics (now Inst. of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology) at the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” where he is currently “Director of Research”. His research interests focus on Nanostructured materials and devices for Vibrational Energy harvesting, Chemical Sensors, Micro- and Nanofabrication technologies for Microsystems and Thermal processes for micro- and nanodevices. He is/was Scientific Responsible and/or Coordinator for several National and EU projects in the above topics and has participated in several others as a key researcher. He acts as reviewer for international journals and Conferences. He acted as General Conference Chairman for EUROSENSORS XXV that took take place in Athens (4-7 September, 2011), as well as co-Chairman or Member of the Organizing Committee for International (SISPAD 2001, MRS 2008 Spring Meeting, SPIE 2013) and National Conferences and Member of the International Program Committee for “Micro- and Nano- Engineering (MNE)” and “SPIE- Smart Sensors, Actuators, and MEMS II”. He acts as a reviewer for the General Secretariat for Research and Technology and the Serbian Ministry of Science and Technological Development and several journals. He has supervised seven PhDs and several MSc theses. He is the author or co-author of over 150 publications in peer-reviewed International Journals, Conference Proceedings and contributions in International Conferences. He has edited 3 Conference Proceedings Volumes. During 2006-2013 he was Head of Education at NCSR “Demokritos” and during 2012-2013 he was also heading the Public Relations and Press Office at NCSR “Demokritos”.
