Grigoris Zisis obtained his bachelor’s degree in Material Science at the University of Patras in February of 2011. In September of the same year, he joined the group of “Non-Linear Optical Materials” at the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton to undertake his doctoral studies, fully funded by the EPSRC, for which his submitted thesis was entitled, ‘Laser-induced Ferroelectric and Photonic Structures in Lithium Niobate Crystals”. The primary emphasis of his doctoral degree, awarded in January of 2016, was laser-assisted ferroelectric domain engineering, waveguide characterization, and micro-structuring on Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3).

Following his PhD studies he was employed in May of 2016 as a Senior Optical Metrology Engineer by Thetametrisis S.A., a company focused on the design and manufacturing of spectroscopic reflectometry systems for the accurate characterization of thin and thick coatings.

In July of 2017 he joined the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INN) of NCSR “Demokritos” after awarded with a “Stavros Niarchos Foundation Industrial Postdoctoral Fellowship” for the development of a novel optical approach for the precise characterization of 2D materials (e.g. graphene, graphene oxide, fluorographene, 2D chalcogenides and heterostructures). This industrial postdoctoral fellowship, entitled as “Accurate Thickness and Refractive Index Mapping of 2D materials by Reflectance Spectroscopy and Imaging Techniques” is a corporation between NCSR “Demokritos” and Thetametrisis S.A.
