In July 2008 Dr. Sophia Karamanou completed the Postgraduate Program of NTUA "Materials Science and Technology" and acquired M.Sc. with a scholarship that was given based on her performance. In September 2014 she completed her doctoral thesis entitled "Synthesis and characterization of organic semiconductors and their application in photovoltaic devices" prepared in School of Chemical Engineering NTUA, under the supervision of Professor J. Simitzis. This research was funded in succession, first from the available funds of the Special Account for Research Grants of NTUA and then by the European Union (European Social Fund - ESF) and Greek national funds through the Operational Program "Education and Lifelong Learning" of the National Strategic Reference Framework (NSRF) - Research Funding Program: Heracleitus II. Since February 2015 she works as a postdoctoral researcher in ARISTEIA I project entitled "Complex Magnetic Nanostructures". Her research interests focus on the scientific area of Materials Science and Technology, particularly in the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured Materials.
