Sunlight, H₂O, and naturally dissolved atmospheric O₂ in water can synergistically create new, unexpected sp³-hybridized bonds in aqueous-solvated nanocrystalline aggregates of certain organic dyes - a green photochemical process detectable in-situ by photoproducts’ aggregation-induced near-infrared emission.
