The Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of NCSR Demokritos celebrated its annual personnel gathering on February 11 2025. The celebration coincided with the women in Science Day. It was a time to reflect on 2024, honor the students who defended their PhD, welcome the new students starting their PhD, and express our gratitude to the retiring personnel. The happening included almost everything, from "Agiasmos" by Reverent Father Marinos Pitsikalis Prof. at Chemistry Department of NKUA, St Basil pie with lots of “flouria-golden-like coins”, award certificates and presents, a rich buffet, a young DJ with music until late the afternoon, and a lot of getting together and socializing! A special mention on the importance and contribution of women in science was made during the speech of the INN director, and a parallelism with the famous women in public life like the Byzantine Empress St Theodora, who brought peace in the empire and whose memory we celebrate also on February 11. The INN director also referred to the achievements of INN during 2024, such as the listing of 12 INN researchers in the Stanford List of top world-wide scientists, the installation of new equipment at INN, the significant increase in proposal writing and the related fund raising, and the new 5-year Strategic Plan of INN, which also includes a hiring plan.
