AKEISTHAI aims to develop modern multi-functional mortars and grouts for the conservation/restoration, structural strengthening and monitoring of the mechanical stresses applied on the load-bearing structures, in the architectural monuments and traditional buildings. The project is implemented through three parallel innovative actions:
a) development of innovative restoration mortars with self-healing ability, by incorporating encapsulated core/shell-type active additives.
b) incorporation - for the first time in restoration mortars - of functional C-nanostructures (CF, CNTs, GnPs, rGOx), aiming to develop self-sensing mortars, reinforced at the nano-scale, able to monitor mechanical stresses, cracks and damage in their microstructure.
c) development of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on cement and pozzolan particles.
AKEISTHAI results were presented at the 85th Thessaloniki International Fair 2021
