ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Dimitra Giasafaki is a Materials Science Engineer from the University of Ioannina (UOI) since 2005. She received her M.Sc. in Materials Chemistry & Technology in 2008 and her PhD in 2014 also from the UOI. She has been working with Porous Materials Group at “Membranes and Materials for Environmental Separations Laboratory” of the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Demokritos National Research Centre in Athens, from 2009 until today, as a phd student and a post-doctoral research associate. Her research focuses on synthesis, modification and characterization of porous materials (mainly carbon and silica based), layered materials and nanocomposites for a wide range of applications (energy, catalytic, biological, industrial etc.). In addition she has worked as an Academic Fellow in two Departments of the School of Engineering, at the University of West Attica (UNIWA) in Athens. She has worked in 9 funded (EU & National) research projects. She has co-authored 19 peer reviewed publications to date, while she has participated in several international and national conferences and workshops (approx. 30 oral and poster presentations, with 2 distinctions).
