ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY
Dimosthenis Ioannou holds a Ph.D. in Functional Surfaces, Plasma Processing, and Fluid and Surface Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), defended in 2025. His dissertation focused on underwater superhydrophobicity and its applications in membrane desalination. He also earned an M.Sc. in Microsystems and Nanodevices from NTUA in 2019. Research for both his master’s and doctoral theses was conducted at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology of N.C.S.R. "Demokritos." His academic foundation was laid with a Physics Diploma from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UOA). Throughout his studies, Dr. Ioannou developed expertise in advanced surface engineering, plasma processing, membrane technologies, and spectroscopy techniques. He has actively contributed to several major European and national research projects, including HARMONIC, CarbyneSense, SuperClean, and EXERCISE, holding roles ranging from Ph.D. researcher to project manager and postdoctoral fellow. His involvement in these interdisciplinary initiatives demonstrates both his technical depth and collaborative capabilities. His research output includes multiple first-author publications in high-impact journals and numerous presentations at international conferences.
