ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Georgia Zahariou was born in Athens in 1976. She graduated from the Physics Department of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1999. She pursued postgraduate studies at the Section of Solid State Physics of the same department, where she received her M.Sc degree in 2002. For her phd thesis which was carried out at the institute of Material Science of NCSR “Demokritos”, she studied the interaction between tyrosyl Z radical and the Mn-cluster of higher plants' Photosystem II.

Her research interests are the application of EPR spectroscopy in bio-inorganic systems. Most of her interests are found in the study of the photosynthetic oxygen evolution process and on the magnetic interactions between the species involved in this mechanism.
