ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Georgios Chatzigiannakis is a PhD candidate at the Department of Physics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens since 2022. He is carrying out his doctoral studies in collaboration with the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, as a member of the Materials for Nanolithography and Organic Electronics research group under the scientific supervision of Dr. M. Vasilopoulou. His dissertation, entitled “Optoelectronic and photonic devices based on heterojunctions between halide perovskites and transition metal dichalcogenides”, is supported by a fellowship from the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (H.F.R.I.).

He holds a BSc in Physics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2016) and an MSc in Materials Science and Technology from the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (2019).

His research interests focus on two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) and on the development and characterization of hybrid optoelectronic devices with perovskites, with applications in photovoltaics and light-emitting diodes (LEDs).
