ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY
Apostolos Kalafatis is a chemist specialized in nanomaterials, spectroscopy, and solar energy. He earned a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Athens and an MSc in Physical Chemistry and Chemical Physics (PCCP) from Université de Bordeaux. His research covers quantum chemistry, nonlinear optics, and solution-processed chalcogenide materials. He has worked at NKUA, ISM Bordeaux, and NCSR “Demokritos” on advanced material systems. Kalafatis is skilled in spectroscopy, microscopy, solar cell fabrication, and computational chemistry. He has co-authored several peer-reviewed papers and presented at leading international conferences. His technical tools include UV-Vis, XRD, FTIR, and programming in Python, C++, and Fortran. He was awarded the Nanoscale Poster Prize (Nanobio 2023) and held a master’s scholarship. Languages spoken include Greek (native), English (IELTS 7), French, and Italian. His current focus is on hybrid perovskite and quantum dot technologies for optoelectronic devices.
