ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Maria Georgoutsou-Spyridonos received her B.Sc. in Biology, thesis in Molecular Genetics, from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (2011). She completed her M. Sc. in Medical Biology (2013) and her Ph.D. in Molecular Immunology (2017), from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens, in collaboration with the National Center for Scientific Research "Demokritos". She has significant knowledge on bacterial infections, innate immunity systems and expertise in evaluating therapeutic/diagnostic agents in whole blood bacteremia models.
Her current research interests include validation of Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs) in Lab-on-Chip devices, characterization of bioanalytical devices for enrichment and isolation of DNA of pathogen microorganisms in biological samples, surface characterization techniques and development of immunoassays.
