Magnetic and magnetocaloric materials, combinatorial experimentation

ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr. V. Alexandrakis is an experimental physicist. He received his PhD in materials physics in 2009 from the University of Ioannina. His research field is magnetism, particularly his research activities are focused on tailoring the magnetic properties of thin films and nanoparticles, making functional magnetic composites. His research interests are in magnetic hysteresis, magnetization switching mechanisms and magnetocaloric properties with applications in magnetic recording, permanent magnets and energy. He is also expert in combinatorial experimentation. He has participated in several European and national research projects and was coordinator of “Magnetostructural transitions and magnetocaloric effect in metamagnetic Heusler alloys” project (No 2530) funded by Hellenic foundation for research and innovation.
