ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Vicki Kontogianni (Vasiliki) ​holds a BSc in Conservation of Objects in Museums and Archaeology (2009), an MSc in Conservation (2010) and a PhD (2022) from Cardiff University on the evaluation of the applicability of External Reflectance FT-IR micro-spectroscopy for the detection and identification of organic additives in historic mortars.

Since 2010 she has been employed in diverse conservation projects of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, gaining a deep understanding of ancient building technologies. Since 2023 she is a part of the Ceramic and Composite Materials Research Group, focusing on the characterization of building materials of monuments through spectroscopic methods and on the experimentation and development of sustainable surface protection treatments for the preservation of cultural heritage.
