ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr Theodora Fotiou graduated from the University of Cyprus with a batchelor in Chemistry in 2008, and received her MSc degree in Environmental Chemistry (2010) from the Chemistry Department of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (UOA). In 2011 she joined the Group of Photo- Catalytic Processes and Environmental Chemistry at the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, NCSR “DEMOKRITOS” and carried out her PhD thesis entitled: “Photocatalytic degradation of cyanotoxins and water taste and odor compounds using TiO2 based nanocatalysts and polyoxometalates” under the supervision of Dr. Anastasia Hiskia. She received her PhD degree in 2014 from the  National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her research interests fall in the fields of advanced water treatment technologies, photocatalytic processes, water detoxification, standardization of photocatalytic materials as well as elucidation of intermediates products during degradation. She is also familiar with advanced analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS.
