ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Marianna Vasilakaki studied in the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences of the National Technical University of Athens in Greece (1999-2004). She continued there in collaboration with NCSRD her M.Sc. and Ph. D (2004-2010) studies. During her Phd studies, she was one of the first to study the novel bi-magnetic core/shell nanoparticles structures for high-performance applications (EU NANOSPIN project) developing Monte Carlo simulation algorithms. Since 2010, she has participated as a postdoctoral researcher in several National (ARISTEIA I, Bilateral Greece-Hungary NSRF) and European funding projects (NANOSPIN)and FET-proactive Horizon 2020 project MAGENTA focusing on the numerical simulations of ferrofluid based thermoelectric materials in NCSRD. Her current research activity focuses on the modeling and theoretical studies of the static and dynamic properties of the nanostructured magnetic materials e.g. multifunctional hybrid nanoparticles, complex nanoparticle systems (ferrofluids and layered magnetic structures) using a multi –scale for biomedical), energy and technological applications.
