ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr Panagiotis Sarkiris is a Mechanical Engineer with a PhD from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), focusing on condensation heat-transfer on micro/nano-structured superhydrophobic surfaces. He obtained his Integrated MEng (307 ECTS) from the University of Western Macedonia in 2016, graduating with a fellowship for academic excellence. During his undergraduate studies, he also completed a three-month internship at Hellenic Aerospace Industry in the section of J79 Phantom engines. In 2018 he obtained an MSc in Nanotechnology & Microsystems from NTUA in collaboration with NCSR “Demokritos”, and in 2023 he successfully defended his PhD under the supervision of Dr Gogolides. During his doctoral work he contributed to several national and EU projects, including the FET programme “HARMoNIC”, and was awarded a State Scholarships Foundation (IKY) fellowship. His current research focuses on (i) fabrication of micro/nano-textured surfaces for energy applications, (ii) development of industrial thin films, (iii) CFD modelling for microfluidic and marine applications, and (iv) SEM-based nanometrology.
