ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY
Dr Konstantinos L. Stefanopoulos was born in Patras and graduated from the University of Athens, obtaining the Degree of Physics in 1990. He carried out his PhD work at the Department of Pure and Applied Physics, University of Salford, UK (1990-1994). Ηe has worked as a research scientist at Berlin Neutron Scattering Center (BENSC), Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (HZB), Germany (2001). He has also taught at the Hellenic Open University (2002-2008). He is a researcher in Demokritos since 2006. His research interests are focused on the structural study of nanoporous materials mainly with neutron scattering methods. In addition, he utilises neutron scattering techniques for the investigation of structural and thermodynamic properties of fluids confined in nanopores with applications to carbon dioxide sequestration and enhanced oil recovery. Recently, he is also involving in neutron-based irradiation combined with photomedicine techniques for cancer therapy. He has co-authored more than 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 6 book chapters, 2 patents, 3 monographs and he has presented his work in more than 80 conferences (h-index=20). He is collaborating with many International Neutron Scattering Centres.
