The project “2D-EMI Shield” aims to utilize the exciting 2D materials Graphene and MXenes for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications through Nanostructured Coatings. Thus, light-weight, MXene-based coatings with EMI shielding performance are set as target products and target application.   The coatings will be suitable for deposition on flexible (plastic) and rigid (glass) surfaces and will be able to provide up to 40 dB Shielding Effectiveness (SE) in the frequency range 8-12 GHz. The adequately set technical objectives are directly linked to the targeted products and characteristics and include: synthesis of MXenes and composites with other conductive 2D material (graphene); incorporation in water and organic solvent based matrix; testing of the synthesized materials and coated surfaces for EMI shielding.
