The objective of this project was the development of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) methodologies in low magnetic fields will for the assessment of enhanced oil recovery experiments in carbonate outcrops through the non-destructive, monitoring of i) fluid flow behavior and ii) spatially resolved maps of petrophysical properties in the these samples. In particular, in the framework of the project, novel MRI methodologies have been developed in variable magnetic fields from 0.05 Tesla up to 3 Tesla, in order to measure fluid motion properties, to identify fluid displacement mechanisms, to measure in situ wettability conditions and image core samples during flooding experiments.
