The PCInano project has employed engineered, nanoparticle-based, cancer‐specific drug delivery systems, enabling controlled chemotherapy release upon light irradiation. This has been implemented by administration of the PCInano nanocarriers with a light activatable agent (photosensitiser, PS). The NCSRD group has contributed with designed nanocarriers based on synthesized cyclodextrin derivatives and porphyrinoid photosensitizers.
