Nanoparticle mediated Photochemical Internalisation (PCI) of small anticancer drugs
ERA-NETs: EuroNanoMed2. Regional funding: in collaboration with groups from Norway and France. 2016-2021. K. Yannakopoulou, PI.
Budget for the group: 100,00 €
The PCInano project has employed engineered, nanoparticle-based, cancer‐specific drug delivery systems, enabling controlled chemotherapy release upon light irradiation. This has been implemented by administration of the PCInano nanocarriers with a light activatable agent (photosensitiser, PS). The NCSRD group has contributed with designed nanocarriers based on synthesized cyclodextrin derivatives and porphyrinoid photosensitizers.
