The project concerns the technological study through physicochemical analysis of building and decorative materials found in archaeological and architectural monuments, aiming at the assessment of their preservation, understanding of their deterioration mechanism, undertaking conservation studies, as well as at the development of conservation materials.

Particular emphasis is given to the development of compatible tailor-made conservation mortars, grouts and consolidation nanocomposites, with enhanced performance, for the sustainable restoration of archaeological and architectural structures.

The laboratory provides also consultancy services to architects, engineers, restorers and conservationists on the conservation of monuments, as well as the suitability, durability and compatibility of the restoration materials.
