This project focuses on the development of L10-ordered Mn-based ferromagnetic alloy spin-torque microwave detectors (STMDs). Such spintronic devices allow the conversion of microwave signals to a measurable DC voltage and may be employed for fabricating robust and high reliability radar sensors of high sensitivity and low power consumption. In addition, STMDs may be used for microwave energy harvesting for powering autonomous sensors. A key objective of the project will be to obtain such materials and devices on commercial Si wafers, for ensuring compatibility to standard microelectronics processes and allowing the development of a low-cost, commercially viable device technology.
