ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY
Dr. George Papadimitropoulos was born in Athens in 1978, is married and has three children. He received his degree in Physics from the University of Ioannina in 2002 and his postgraduate degree (M. Sc.) as well as his doctorate (Ph. D.) from University of Athens, Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, in 2004 and 2009 respectively. Since 2004 he has been with NCSR Demokritos, where he now holds the position of postdoctoral researcher. From 2005-2012 he was an associate of the TEI of Chalkida while from 2010 until today, he is an associate of the Department of Electronic Engineering of the former TEI of Piraeus and now the University of West Attica. From 2017-2020 he
was a Collaborating Teaching Staff of the Hellenic Open University in the Undergraduate Program "Studies in Natural Sciences". He has participated in various national and European programs while he was a holder of a scholarship for a doctoral dissertation from Demokritos as well as a holder of a scholarship of excellence from IKY-Siemens for postdoctoral research. Dr. Papadimitropoulos George has published over 50 scientific papers in international journals, while he has 17 h index and 23 i10-index as well as over 1000 heteroreferences. During his doctorate he developed a system of depositing thin films, metallic and non-metallic, and dealt with the characterization of the produced films as well as their application in various microelectronic devices. The research of Dr. G. Papadimitropoulos focuses on three main areas, which are largely reflected in his scientific publications in both international scientific journals and international conferences: First, in the development with various thin film techniques of various materials for use and application in microelectronics, secondly in the characterization of the produced films with a variety of techniques and thirdly in the application of these films in various electronic and optoelectronic devices such as transistors, sensors, photovoltaic, electrochromic displays, memories, OLEDs, OPVs etc. The films it deals with are Cu, W metal films, metal oxide films such as WOx, MoOx, TaOx, CuxO, VOx as well as MoS2 films and various organic materials.
