ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Johanne Hizanidis is a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser (IESL-FORTH), Greece, and a collaborating researcher with the National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos”. She received her PhD in Physics in 2008 from Technische Universität Berlin, where she worked on nonlinear dynamics in semiconductor superlattices, and her BSc in Physics from the University of Athens. Her research is highly interdisciplinary, lying at the intersection of condensed-matter physics and nonlinear dynamics, with particular emphasis on superconducting metamaterials, photonic systems, and semiconductor nanostructures. More recently, her work has expanded toward neuromorphic dynamics and physical reservoir computing, where she explores how nonlinear physical systems, such as Josephson junctions, can be harnessed as computational substrates.
