ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Sotiris Ntouskas is Post-Doc Researcher at the Institute of Nanoscience & Nanotechnology, NCSR “Demokritos”. He is a Mechanical Engineer (Dipl.) from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), and received his M.Sc. degree in Automation Systems from NTUA – School of Mechanical Engineering. In 2021, he completed his Ph.D. in NTUA – School of Chemical Engineering. His Ph.D. Thesis was entitled “Development of Advanced Model Predictive Control Methodologies towards Optimized Drug Administration Policies”. Among others, he has worked at NTUA as a research engineer in developing Model Predictive Control Methods for Fractional-Order Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Models, and in developing web application for determining Optimal and Individualized Drug Administration Strategies. Moreover, he has worked in private sector as a Software Engineer in space industry, developing and testing software for space missions for European Space Agency (E.S.A.). He participated as author or co-author in 2 articles in peer-reviewed journals and in 4 articles in peer-reviewed Conference Proceedings (250 citations and h-index=3, google scholar). His current work includes instrumentation of portable point-of-care devices for microfluidic/lab-on-a-chip systems, sensor reading, control of relevant actuators, software development, graphical user interface etc.
His research interests include Embedded Systems, Robotics, Control Systems Design and Implementation, Advanced Control Methodologies, Mathematical Optimization Methods, Stochastic Optimization, State Observers/Estimators, Lab-on-Chip Devices, System Identification, PK-PD/Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Models (PBPK), Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning.
