ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY
Tri is Research Associate in the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (INN) of NCSR “Demokritos”. He is also head of the Laboratory of Organic Micropollutants (LOM) and Quality Manager of the Water Quality Control Laboratories of the Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company (EYDAP SA). He has more than 20 years’ experience in environmental and analytical chemistry with expertise in development, optimization and validation of analytical methods for determination of pollutants in water and environmental samples, focusing especially mass spectrometric techniques. He is involved in research and development projects at a national and European level, aiming towards water protection,
water quality and advanced water treatment. His current research interests include the identification and characterization of cyanotoxins and cyanobacterial bioactive metabolites in aquatic systems, risk assessment of pollutants (natural, anthropogenic) in water resources, the cyanobacterial volatilome and transformation products of pollutants in nature and during water treatment, with focus on Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP). He has published dissertations, book chapters, papers in international peer-reviewed journals, and articles in conference proceedings. Tri has been Chair of the European COST Action ES1105 ‘‘CYANOCOST - Cyanobacterial blooms and toxins in water resources: Occurrence, impacts and management’’ www.cyanocost.net and currently he is chairing COST Action CA18225 “WaterTOP - Taste and Odor in early diagnosis of source and drinking Water Problems” www.watertopnet.eu.
Tri earned his Degree and PhD in Chemistry from University of Athens, Greece and an MSc in Quality Management from University of the West of Scotland (formerly U. of Paisley), UK.
