Laboratory of Macromolecular Crystallography

The laboratory supports research programmes of NCSR “Demokritos” groups, as well as collaborating with Universities and Research Centres in Greece and abroad, and potentially also with industry, for the determination of structures, mainly of macromolecules and supramolecular systems. It also serves the needs for crystallographic analysis of microcrystalline (powder) samples, thin films, liquid crystals etc. It has a full crystallographic data collection facility (rotating anode X-ray source and Image Plate detector, cryo-system), an Oryx Nano robot for screening and optimisation of crystallisation conditions, and PCs with dedicated crystallographic software.
