Gas Gcromatography – Electron Capture Detector (GC-ECD)
GC–ECD system is consisted of a Hewlett Packard 5890 Series II gas chromatograph (Hewlett Packard, Germany) for the separation of volatile and semi-volatile compounds interfaced to a Hewlett Packard G1223A electron capture detector (Hewlett Packard, USA) for the detection of the compounds. Electron Capture Detector (ECD) is detecting atoms and molecules in a gas through the attachment of electrons via electron capture ionization. GC-ECD enables the detection of trace amounts of organic halogen compounds
and organic metal compounds in a sample.
