Project Summary

The Hellenic Chips Competence Centre (HCCC) is Greece's national hub that coordinates innovation, skills development, and collaboration across the semiconductor and microelectronics ecosystem. In alignment with the EU Chips Act, HCCC aims to contribute significantly to Europe's semiconductor strategy by promoting collaboration among academia, industry, and government agencies.

At NCSR "Demokritos", we participate as a core partner in the project, leading the Technical Knowledge Transfer activities. We support startups and SMEs by providing access to advanced prototyping, co-development services, and semiconductor fabrication expertise.

Our Services

To strengthen EU research leadership and supply chain resilience, the HCCC focuses on four key pillars:

  • Connection to Design Platforms & Pilot Lines: Offering access to chip design tools, methodologies, and to four European pilot lines to help companies integrate breakthrough technologies into their products.
  • Technical Knowledge Transfer: Providing access to cutting-edge semiconductor R&D facilities (including the cleanroom facility of the Nanotechnology and Microsystems Laboratory), EDA software enablement, and specialized component and system design.
  • Skills & Training: Addressing the shortage of skilled personnel by offering targeted training programs in semiconductor fabrication, circuit design, and embedded systems to create a new generation of high-tech specialists.
  • Business, Investment & Innovation: Organizing conferences, hackathons, and networking events to support Greek SMEs, and attract investments for the Greek ecosystem.

Co-Funding

The HCCC project is supported by Chips JU and its members, and is co-funded by the European Union and the Greek Government via the "Competitiveness" Programme.
