ABOUT/BIOGRAPHY

Dr A. Travlos joined NCSR DEMOKRITOS, in 1987, where he is currently employed as Director of Research, at the Electron Microscopy Lab in the Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. He received the B.Sc. degree in physics from Queen Mary College, London in 1977, the M.Sc. degree in the Physics of Semiconductors from Brunel University, London in1979 and his PhD from Imperial College, University of London, in 1984, for his research on thin films of tungsten oxide and related compounds. His research interests include MBE growth, optical, electrical and electron microscopy characterization of materials. He participated in several research projects on silicides, Si, SiGe, ZnO and Si nanoparticles . He managed research grants in excess of 1.5 M€. He is currently working on metallic and oxide nanomaterials with applications in electronics and photonics. He is the founder of the spin-off company PLINIOS SA.
