Advanced Analytical Methods and Innovative Remediation Technologies for Explosives

Our Laboratory operates as a specialized research hub focused on developing advanced analytical methods to determine primary and secondary explosive compounds and on studying their chemical degradation for environmental remediation. Our expertise in these areas aims to instill confidence in our ability to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions for managing contaminated sites.

Certified quality lies at the core of our operations. Holding a leading position in Greece, our laboratory is among the first to receive accreditation according to the international standard ISO 17025 for the methods it has developed, thereby ensuring the validity and undisputed reliability of our results. Using state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Photodiode Array Detection (HPLC-PDA) and Liquid Chromatography coupled with Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), we achieve precise determination of explosive compounds in complex environmental samples (soil, mortar, and water).

Our expertise extends beyond the laboratory bench to the successful implementation of demanding field projects. Through strategic partnerships with both public and private sector entities, we have played a decisive role in projects involving the environmental assessment of former industrial explosives production facilities, as well as in remediation actions utilizing mild chemical remediation technologies, minimizing the environmental footprint of the process.

Our ongoing research includes a proposal to develop a holistic remediation technology that combines chemical degradation, reductive reagents, and phytoremediation, highlighting our commitment to innovative environmental solutions.
