Environmental Metabolomics, High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS) & Bioinformatics
Our laboratory specializes in advanced environmental metabolomics and exposomics, utilizing cutting-edge High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS) platforms. We focus on untargeted analysis to comprehensively profile complex biological and environmental systems, allowing us to detect thousands of small molecules simultaneously. This powerful approach helps us understand cellular stress responses, track contaminants of emerging concern, and discover new molecular biomarkers without any prior assumptions.

Τo turn this massive amount of raw data into meaningful scientific discoveries, we employ sophisticated bioinformatics pipelines and open-science computational tools. Our team is highly experienced in data preprocessing, feature detection, and molecular networking using state-of-the-art platforms such as MZmine, GNPS2, and SIRIUS (including the CCMS ecosystem). Notably, we have actively contributed to the upgrade of the CCMS ecosystem by enriching its registry with numerous cyanobacterial metabolites. By integrating these advanced tools, we can accurately annotate unknown metabolites, map chemical relationships, and provide deep insights into biological mechanisms.
